Default Turbocharging 2nd Gen Camaro Questions ?

I'm in process of my 6.0 LSx swap into my 79 Camaro Z/28. Planning for a Turbocharger, but need advice...

I am running the Corvette Accessory drive system
LS3 Intake and injection with L92 heads
Lunati Voodoo Cam
6.0 truck low compression shortblock
92mm tb, 85mm MAF, etc...
engine setup currently makes 392 whp on a chassis dyno through a t56 and runs and works good as is, BUT...

First I am not looking for 1000hp or anyting crazy, 500whp would be just fine to me. I just want something that spools quick, will look impressive, and gives that awesome turbo sound and acceleration when I need it:

1) What size turbocharger should I run? I am not a turbo genius, so help me.

2) What manifolds/Headers can I use to have the turbo mounted in the engine compartment somewhere that clears the corvette drive system?

I have above average fabrication skills, and have the tooling to make this happen, but just need some expert advice.

Thanks in advance.

From what i read a good turbo for a good price is the borgwarner S480. It will be more than enough for 500 but from what i read works awesome and doesnt destroy your bank account. You should have a look at the forced induction section. Alot of guys are modding the truck manifolds for v-band clamps. It looks really easy. I am also doing the same as you but with an 80 Z28. Its coming but slowly. I have truck manifolds mounted forward and up but i may attempt welding on the v-bands for better fitment. I dont think you should have a problem clearing the vette accessory drive. I use a truck accessory drive myself. Hope this helps a bit.

I used the truck manifolds and cut the end off with a cutoff wheel and welded a vband flange to it with a MIG. Very easy. I am using them without the turbos at the moment but I will turn them around when turbo time comes, I have a pair of t70s.

Do you want to run a single or twin setup? Or is the price of the turbo(s) the deciding factor? Also what internal are you running? stock? Sorry for the 20?s but maybe I can help you out (did a similar build).

Well I already have the 2 t70s, I really wanna do the twins but a lot of people in here are telling me to stay with the single. It'a all stock except for ls6 springs. I'm looking to make about 600hp but doing it for mainly for show. Hot Rod mag did a couple of articles last year on turbo builds and they made 594hp on a not intercooled stock 5.3 with ls6 cam and springs and 76mm turbo. Then they did another with a stock bottom end junkyard 4.8 but did heads cam and intake and 2 76mm turbos and made 1200hp. So at this point I'm looking for injectors and blow off valves and wastegates. Then the turbo(s) will be put on.

Ive read those articles, pretty interesting. Im not sure if a DD 4.8 could handle what they threw at it every day though, although they did not blow it up (big band theory). The build i referred to was I did a BUDGET 5.3 build that only was like >4k for the whole thing minus the tune. It was a 5.3, modified stock headers, turned and flipped, and a pair of stock turbos from a subaru wrx (work for a subaru shop and got them for free) these are small and INTERNAL WASTEGATED. I also used two of the stock intercoolers from a wrx to cool it. Utilizing all other stock components and a computer tune, on good gas, make 700hp.

My BBC makes 450hp and gets crappy gas milage. If I can make 500-600hp and get 20mpg.... good to go.

I'm kinda strapped right now. Hence the reason for no turbos yet. Need injector money.
