05 5.3 DBW w/ 4l60e

using a truck harness thats been modified for this swap
I have the cluster plug and an obd2 plug that also need to be wired in
on the harness theres 5 power wires:
1 yellow; 12v constant
1 purple: starter
3 red: 12v ignition power when key is on
harness also has 10 data wires:
AC clutch activation
OBD2 data port
brake switch (need for torque converter lockup)
vss to gauge
malfunction lamp
4 cylinder signal to tach
ac clutch relay control
stop lamp switch (12v when brake is pressed)
fuel pump relay control ( puts out + to turn on relay)
obd plug:
(2) purple: serial data line
(4) BLK: ground
(5) BLK/WHT: ground
(16) orange: +12 v battdum (not ignition)
cluster plug:
B1- park lamp feed
B3- security indicator input
B5- fused ignition feed
B6- tach
B7- rear compartment lid ajar
B8- vss
B9- instrument cluster lamp feed
B10- right turn indicator input
B11- ground
B14- oil pressure gauge input
B15- ground
A3- fused ignition feed
A5- brake warning indicator lamp input
A8- service engine soon indicator lamp input
A10- fused batt feed
A12- left turn indicator
A13- fasten seat belt
A15- low coolant indicator input
A17- high beam indicator input
I do have an after market oil pressure, water temp, and fuel level gauge
but id like to have as much functioning as possible on this cluster.
im not the smartest when it comes to wiring but im ready to finish this car and the wiring is about all I have left.
I would greatly appreciate the help and when the car is finished and bugs worked out plan on doing a DIY lsxfox thread.
thanks guys

I'm not very good at connecting the dots when it comes to wiring and it's the last step to getting this car running.

I need speedo, tach, blinkers, lights, etc

I have the pin outs for plugs but don't know what wires need to go where. Trying to make this cluster work just like factory with everything working. Only things I'm not worried about working is fuel and oil pressure, I have gauges for them.

so you are using a truck harness? and you are trying to use a camaro instrument cluster? what year cluster is it from? what year car is it going in?

so you are trying to use the factory plug on the cluster?

why don't you do what all the other fox body guys do.

Yes I'm using a truck harness and I'm I'm not sure how to tell the year cluster but its between 98-02 I know 98 is diff than 88-02.
The car Is an 88 foxbody and I have a factory plug for the cluster but it came out of a different camaro than the cluster did.

I'm clueless as to what the other foxbody guys do but I didn't wanna run all aftermarket gauges cost too much

i got all my lights/heater/wipers working on mine, volt and gas will work, speedo will work since its cabel driven and the factory truck ecu (not sure about car ecu) sends out a 4 cyl tach signal, since my car was a 4 cyl. im only adding water temp, oil press, trans temp, wideband a/f, boost. im going to wire in the truck harness tomorrow and see if i can get it to kick the starter on with the key.

What do you mean cable driven? I'm on a 4l60e and I don't have the ecu yet still have to pick it up from calspeed. Can you write up something telling me where you pulled each wire from to make speedo tach and gauges? Heater should be off factory harness. I'd greatly appreciate it and I'll pay if need be just want advise from someone who's already done this before and it works for them

my bad i should have mentioned im running a th400 that is cable driven, im not close enough yet to give a write up, fuel level and volt gauge will work without modding the harness, just re connect the volt signal wire back onto the alternator. im 60% sure the tach will work only if the ecu gives out the correct signal. from what i know you can have someone calibrate the tach to work, but trust me, most if not all of the factory gauges are not accurate. if none work for me it wont matter. i believe you can get an adaptor to translate the 4l60e vss to work with the cabel driven speedo. just search a lil better, theres writeups on all this mess

For the tach to work in the camaro cluster. You are going to have to tap into the serial data (position 2 on the ALDL connector). That wire will go to position B6 on the instrument cluster. Dont forget to hook up power and ground as well as anything else you want to hook up in the cluster.

Here is also a diagram showing the wires needed to hook up other things to the cluster.
http://www.auto-wiring-diagram.com/w...generation.jpg

The yellow 12ga wire that is in the mustang harness supplies 12V to the ignition switch.

Here is a diagram for you to look at to get your blinkers to work.

Let me know if you need anymore help, or if this doesn't make sense and I will elaborate more on whichever part.

These are the 2 factory mustanf cluster plugs. They match none of the pinouts I can find. 1988 ls

Left plug
Black/blue stripe and brown. ! White/purple stripe
Empty slot. ! Green/red stripe
Gray. ! Red/green stripe
Dark green/yellow stripe. ! 2 red/yellow stripe wires
Empty slot. ! Red/pink stripe
2 white/blue stripe wires. ! 2 black wires
Green/black stripe. ! 2 green/white stripe wires

Right plug
Yellow/black stripe. ! White/purple stripe
White/ red or pink stripe. ! 2 yellow/black wires
Yellow/white stripe & blue wire. ! Empty slot
2 red/yellow stripe wires. ! Empty slot
Black. ! 2 purple/orange stripe wires
Dark green/lite green stripe. ! Red/white stripe
2 blue/red stripe wires. ! Blue/black stripe & gray wire

I can't figure out what wire controls what function, and I can't figure out why I can't match it to any pinout online. Anyone have any clues?

Yours must be one of the early harnesses then. Maybe you can have somebody with alldata help you out with it. They should be able to print you out a diagram. Or use a haynes manual which will probably take forever.

Well I think I'm gonma just trace them out until I get the right info I need. I'm gonna think it over while I'm at work today and see what I come up with. But ya after I figure out these 2 plugs I'll pretty much have my wiring figured out

So trying to take this one step at a time, ran into two new problems in my never ending list of problems.

I unscrewed the linker assembly from column and used multi meter thinking I could find my signal wires to the cluster. Wrong

2 wires don't touch factory cluster plugs. One wire goes to one of the cluster plugs the other wire goes to like 6 different wires on the cluster plugs.

Other prob is I converted from manual to auto pedals. When installing the auto pedals I noticed I didn't have a brake switch. Only one offerened for my car is the one in the pic, is this right for auto pedals?

Well was thinking today, since the lights and blinkers are on a separate harness. That they will work when power is applied but just won't appear on the cluster.

So gonna just use the speedo, tach, cel, volts, water.

I'm unsure of how to wire fuel and oil pressure sp gonna use mechanical gauges since they are already in the car. Are there any build threads out there for lsx fox's that have a fully functionally camaro cluster?
