How do you remove a LS1 water pump pulley?

I tack welded a nut on the pulley snout and then threaded in a bolt to press it off. Then just cut the tack welds off and you're done.
I did it to pull a corvette water pump pulley out about 3/8" to line up with camaro accesories.
I've done it twice now and will probably do it again here on my next car.

Advanced auto has a puller that grabs onto the ring on the snout of the pulley. I just bought an fbody pump today and we removed it right on the counter at the store. It took an impact gun to turn the shaft on the tool but it worked flawlessly and didn't harm the pulley at all.

I second Cubicylndr's statement. I bought a 2001 z28 water pump (f-body) all you need is a power steering pump pulley puller. (Advanced auto parts tool kit 648605.) 13/16 wrench and a 1/2" 6 pt impact socket and that pulley zips right off. The staff tried to help me right in the store but the hand tools they had available were not up to the task (12pt combination wrenches). Now I just need to bring my truck pump in, use their 3-jaw to get the pulley off and figure out pressing it on the Camaro pump. Thanks again to all these older posts for guiding me through my adventure!

Would anyone in the US be interested in making me a corvette pump with a truck pulley and sending to Australia?
I'd like to run the truck fan, but the pumps are not common over here.
The pump I've got is 89018052, pretty surer its corvette spacing (and rear cover is not removable)

I'm not entirely sure that's possible with corvette accessory spacing. Not sure if the truck pulley can be pushed on far enough to reach the vette accessory belt spacing.
Even if you could, the fan would be nearly touching the front of the throttle body.

Damn, but good point.
There would be very little room for a 90deg bend of the throttle body and the top radiator hose might be too tight as well.
Might have to go with a Mark VIII fan...
