S14 240SX LS1 Swap and Passes smog...
I’ve completed my swap for a few years now but never had the chance to do a build thread. I wanted a complete car as I was planning to do a California BAR legal engine swap and would get all the emissions components. The swap had to be as “stock” as possible. Here’s a quick run down of my S14 240SX LS1 swap story.
I purchased a very low mileage running 2001 Camaro SS with LS1 and T56.
Here is the donor and recipient.
Taking the engine out of the donor.
I purchased the Sikky LS1 swap kit for my S14.
ACT twin disk.
Working on the wiring.
Shifter assembly.
To the exhaust shop.
This is a daily driver so I replaced the worn stock struts with Tokico D-Spec struts.
Replaced the front T/C bushings with Energy Suspension bushings.
Updated the gauge cluster light bulbs to LED units for better lighting.
I got my car weighed before and after the swap to stop all the misinformation going around. Too much talk, not enough useful data was how I saw it.
So much for a California BAR legal engine swap. Things in life changed and I ended up moving to Portland, Oregon. Well, at least I know that my swap passes Oregon DEQ emissions.

Great info. Thank you for the post!
Do you have any pictures of where the Sikky mount kit places the shifter in the 240? I feel like all the kits place the motor too far forward.
Cheers.

So.. you were able to pass in Oregon.. I am assuming that they are not as tight as trying to pass in Calif and the tight *** Inspector/Tech's.
Just from the picture of you engine bay.. I would say a Cali tech would fail you right off the bat. your air intake is not C.A.R.B Compliant or OEM..
What did you do for the Fuel pressure and Fuel level inputs to the PCM and was the Charcoal Canister used? Did you install the Air Pump ?
Its good you use a 01', no EGR required.
I only ask this cause I live in Calif and take interest in people that have re-cert'd there car, as one day I will be taking on the task of a smog compliant swap.
And good job !

Yes. It took me 3 years to find this car.
Thanks!
