85 elco ls1 Swap fuel tank question

I agree with G-body approach. However, if you cant find one, or it is cost prohibitive.....I used a stock el camino tank in my '86. I cut the fuel pump assembly retainter (steel ring) off of a 94-96 Caprice/Roadmaster tank. I think welded that retainer onto my stock tank (cleaned of course). Now i use all the stock caprice stuff, including lines. Just a thought.

yea i will have to check out some junkyards for a 4.3 Elco. Also I am using the 1" setback mounts with a 5.3 and th350 will the stock driveshaft work or will it have to be shortened a inch to make up for the motor placement?

The paint prettymuch gives it away, SS was two tone with one color on top and an accent color on the bottom. The non SS had the bottom accent, the main color in the middle and then the top (roof and top couple inches of the 1/4s) were painted the same color as the lower accent color.
IIRC the GM SS`s are RPO Z15. If its a choo choo customs SS it may or may not be RPO Z15 since not all of the choo choo customs SS`s started out as GM SS`s
