Default LM7 into a first gen Monte Carlo under stock hood?

Guys I have an unmolested 72 Monte that's going to be getting an LS swap. I picked up a complete LM7 for peanuts with only 44K on it.

My question is this. Has anyone been successful in getting an LM7 under the stock flat hood of a first gen MC complete with the stock truck intake and plastic cover?

While I'm willing to do manifold swap if it absolutely necessary I'd really like to find a way to make it fit as is.

That being said. What is truly involved with doing a manifold swap on the LM7?

Not sure about if it will fit, but if you have to do the swap, here is a thread that gives you the parts you will need:

Got mine to fit under the stock Chevelle hood with cover. Have about 1" clearance. Go with CTS-V pan. Some pics to show you what I did.
