Default 99 TA going LQ9, Writeup, link, or list? ADMIN, YOUR SEARCH SUCKS!!

Been looking for a while.. got some good info here and there.. Ok, so here are my questions.

Will an LQ9 6.0 bolt to my 99+ 60e ? (what year LQ9 is recommended)
Reluctor wheel differences? (2005 has a 24x ring)
PCM interchangeability ?
Using my accessories and Intake? Ive heard yes and no... (alternator bracket mounting hole needs tapping?)

Ive read yes and no on the trans mating. (it will as long as there are no spacers or extended flange..)

PCM will run but will need a tune to be efficient.

Is there a writeup for an LS1-LQ9 swap? Ive found half *** Q&A on a lot of other swaps but not an LS1... Any links or lists would be awesome. I cant ***!n find them...

edit: Ls1 and 2005+LQ9 has same reluctor ring 24x?...

So if anyone reads this, is my info so far right? I got a lot of this from other forums and a little from Tech...

Just going to clear up a few of your questions since I just swapped from ls1 to lq4.

lq4/9 bolt to 60e:Yes
all gen 3 ls based motors are 24x reluctor rings.I believe the 06+ use the 54x ring
intake..bolton 100%(need to swap the opsu from the ls1 to the lq9)
accessories bolton, must drill and tap the alternator top bolt for the bracket
pcm..will run the lq9,will need a tune as Im still running stock ls1 tune ony my lq4 with ls6 intake and injectors.

When searching on here,go to the gen 3 forums and search the lq4/9 swaps. You will find alot more detailed threads.I dont recall what yr 6.0s had extended cranks, other than that..lsx motors externally all bolt up the same.swapping from ls1 to lq9 is direct.Take all your accessories, intake, manifolds sensors and put it on the lq9.Start it and go

Thank you.. this is what I figured. I just wanted to see what someone who had done it would say... I was also looking in the conversions and hybrid section.. Figured that would be the place to look...

Yea..its alot easier of a swap than you think.Think of it as swapping in another ls1 long block and re-usuing everything you currently have.Id also re-use the ls1 steam pipes for better cooling of the rear of the heads instead of the blockoffs.Thats just my personal opinion and buy all new gaskets.Shouldnt take any longer than 2 days to be bake on the road.

If the engine has black cam/crank sensors it's 24x, if they are white it's a 58x. If the reluctor has 2 separate wheels it's 24x, if it's a single wheel it's 58x. I think it was late production year 2005 some engines started getting 58x.

1999-2000, the engine will have iron heads.

That would depend on how "fresh" it is (stock bottom end with rings and bearings or aftermarket stuff?). Is this something local that you can go look at? Have you asked the seller for more info?

I know this is a very basic question but the LQ4/9 bolts up the same as the LS1? No adaptors or relocating mounts needed?

As far as I know these two are completely interchangeable... aside from the alternator mount hole you need to tap for your LS1 bracket.

I said to hell with this search and did it on Google... it took me back to Tech but to a much more reliable/complete thread... Ive got some good info so far and this swap is looking like its gonna be pretty easy and cheap...

the lq9/lq4 block will use all your old accesories, you just need to reuse the oil press switch off your car and intake and like stated drill and tap top alternator bolt,
the older engines are the ones that require a spacers your being auto and with and 01 and up engine youll be fine.
also you will need to swap your oil pan and pickuptube/windage tray

well, this swap was gonna happen next winter or spring.. Too bad my tired LS1 let loose on me tonight on the highway... She went down fighting and is now parked in my driveway with a spun bearing... I thought I was gonna cry. I just got the new tranny broken in and was letting her loose on the highway tonight against a Holden... Was handing out an *** whoopin when I lost power and oil pressure went to like 5 psi.. we all know what that meant.... So, Im now in the market for another motor...

How do I make a LQ9 with the 58x work for my car since I have the 24x?

yep.. its my understanding that the cranks are interchangable... new bearings and a line bore are recommended of course...
