Hi all

I was able to get a 4L60e transmission for $150, but I don't know if I can use it. I have the book "GM LS-Series Engines: The Complete Swap Manual" and I read through the whole Transmission section, and I can't determine weather or not this older style 4L60e will work.

I have a 5.3 from a 2002 Yukon (which came with a 4L60e stock) Below are the pictures of the transmission I found for $150. Notice that it is the older, single piece bellhousing. The guy said it was out of a late 90s van.

So, can I get this thing to work with my 2002 5.3?

As far as I know yes. However, the automatic tranny gurus reside in the auto tranny section. You'll have FAR better luck there.

If you want the PCM to control the transmission it needs to have PWM cast in the front pump area.

I discuss this very topic in my build thread.

There is also other information about using older (non LSx) automatic transmissions with LSx engines.
