Thinking of swapping a 5.3 into my mustang.
I have a 93 lx 5 speed mustang 5.0 considering swapping a 5.3 and a turbo 400 into it. But i have a few thoughts about it. First question is can you wire it to make all the gauges work like factory? Also does any one have a rough idea on what it will cost to complete this swap? Next off is aje k member and crossmember the best to use? I plan to put it in stock and turbo it in the future. Any input would be great. Thank you in advance.

This is a very popular swap. Others may have some suggestions for your stock gages, but one option we have a seen a lot of is the use of 98-02 F-Body Gage cluster in the foxbody as the gages are almost a direct bolt in. Thanks to some of our customers requests, we now offer a gage pigtail and schematic for hooking the f-body gages into any vehicle. Hope that helps.

Seeing as you already have the car, that saves you a huge chunk of what most spend on a swap. Right now I'm doing a Ls1/Th400 swap into my 89 Fox and so far only spent $1150, $300 for car, Ls1= Already owned from my camaro, Just rebuilt TH400=$150, Bearings, gaskets, ARP stuff, nitrous= $700. I still need to buy a harness/pcm, stall, drive shaft and fuel system before it moving under its own power. Hoping to be under or around $2500 total into the car.

I put a 4.8L in my 70 Chevelle and have about $2700 and that includes the new oil pan kit, HP Tuners and twin t70's. The enigine is in the car and running but not turboed yet. I will have about $3300 in the swap after the turbos are on the car.

I did this swap to my 01 Mustang. You can wire the gages to work, tell your computer guy to set the tach output for a Ford tach. This swap is the best money I ever spent on a Ford! I think I have about $3800 into the swap and I did everything myself(except the computer reflash). I am also planning a turbo but have to get my traction issues fixed first. Keep us posted.
