Default Trans question for a 6 liter build

Hi all,

I want to put a 6.0 in my 2001 v6 camaro.

There are many aluminum/iron block motors out there so my question is how do I choose which trans do I go with that will handle the power from a 6.0 with a 10lb nitrous bottle.

Which transmissions will mate up to these motors from trucks or from GTO / c6 vettes?

I can go either way with manual or auto so show me the way:

Modified 4l60e or 4l80e or 6l8oe or a Modified T56?

DO NOT go with a 4l60e. It will break. 4l80e is most bang for the buck as it will not require separate controller - they are supposed to hold 450 ft/lbs stock. T56 is fine too. Depends on whether you want auto or stick.

4L60E with a few upgrades to handle the nitrous is the easiest. A stock 4L80E will do the job and then some, but is obscenely heavy and requires a few custom parts like harness/crossmemeber/floor mods/driveshaft just to get it in there

Any LSx trans will work aside from from corvettes, but even those can be adapted at a competent trans shop. If you plan to keep the trans mounted TA, you'll need a tail housing from a Fbody or GTO, if not the trucks and other IRS RWD cars will work fine. Column shifted vehicles will have a range switch on the trans that you wont use
