Default Can this be done?? Cruise control/dbw/05 ggto ls2

I DID A QUICK SEARCH AND COULDN'T FIND A DEFINITIVE ANSWER.

I have a 05 gto ls2/t56 combo, what is required to make the cruise control function, i'd like to use the cruise switch provided with my ididit column if possible, and it will remain dbw as the harness is already ordered.

I have been wondering the same thing myself. I am putting a 06 LS2 from a CTS-v into my 70 Chevelle. I bought the GM performance DBW wiring kit for my car and was wondering if there is a module to run the cruise. I already bought the cable-X drive kit for the speedometer.

If you're using a 58x system with an E38 or40, cruise becomes much more difficult than on earlier sytems. Functions like cruise run on the high speed LAN with communication betwwen he pcm and the cruise module. I've seen some discussion about this, but have not seen any posts of a workking system. The same issue arises with pcm control of AC.

The only problem is the LS2 is a entirely different creature. I have the GMPP wiring kit and to my understanding the TAC module is part of the ECM and you need some sort of body module or something else to run the cruise. Oh well what are you gonna do? I can't run a cable driven TB so I am out of luck.

I'm very interested in a cruise control solution for the DBW cars in swaps as well - I have a E40 ecm on a LS2/L92 motor with a DBW throttle and would love to have cruise.
The real question is if it is controlled by a specific module, or if something simple can be built to send a signal to "control" the speed via a throttle signal?

Exactly Bob. I bought the LS2 controler kit from GMPP and it would be nice if they would include the ability for cruise even if I had to buy a extra module or something. It is gonna take a very experienced person to sort this out. Once I get closer to up and running I will worry more.

Jason, the crusie thread you referred to applies to the older PCMs which are much easier( for now) to work with. The newer PCM's do most things over the GM LAN bus, which requires a module and programming to get things like cruise and AC to work. I'm not sure anyone has sorted this this out yet.

If we could find out what control sequence controlled the cruise,(and the A/C), wouldn't that be great! I'd bet a fairly simple control circuit would solve that problem - where are our Systems and Electrical Engineers!

Anyone tried an aftermarket kit like this: http://www.rostra.com/cruise-control.htm? Click on the "electric" kit for more signal details. It has various source options including speed. This company also has vehicle specific DBW kits available. I imagine they would help us figure this out with enough interest (read: $$$).

I sent a request to rostra.com asking about my situation - 05/06 GTO ECM and engine/DBW to see if they have a solution - seems like they have a stand alone interface, its just a matter of finding what interface to use. I'll post back if they have a solution.

That write up is for a LS1 PCM. This discussion is about LS2/LS3 ECMs which are different. Are there any further developments with this?

I won't be tackling it until June/July timeframe. But I'm still watching. Never got a response from the company above. (rostra).

I'm also interested to see how this is done. I remember reading elsewhere about needing the BCM (Body Control Module) for something else, so I already have that on the way. I decided to pick up the Powertrain Interface Module (PIM) as well just in case I need that for anything. So all together I have the original wiring harness, PCM, BCM, PIM, TAC module, and pedal assembly from the donor '06 GTO along with the LS2. I'm hopeful that once we figure out exactly what is needed to get this done I'll already have everything I need.

I thought about doing this 3 years ago when I built my 65 Corvette. I talked to John Spears, and he said that I would have to use the BCM and it would be a real bear on a hybrid. I passed on it then and did not even think about it on my current project. If John Spears will not take on the task, I know I sure ain't going to! He is a whole lot smarter on these systems than I will ever be.
