Default 05 Caddy CTS-V engine/trans questions

Going the LS route with my 69 Chevelle and was thinking 6.0 T56 but I found an 05 CTS-V engine and T56 that includes ECM/harness etc etc is this a good combo to start with? Is a CTS-V T56 any different than an Fbody T56?

Thanks in advance.

05 CTS-V came with a 400 hp 5.7. Certainly a stout motor worthy of a swap. I had a chance to get one along with the trans, but couldn't afford it.

The shifter on the CTS-V is very different from the F-body/GTO T-56. It's something that you may be able to make work. Search the forums and you should be able to find the differences.

Edit...
Found it.

The GTO T-56 shifter can be changed out for the F-body one if you change the shifter cup also (This is what I did).

Good motor. Remember that the CTSV is going to be running a green/blue PCM while the F-body ran a red/blue. Just an FYI.

You will need to change the mainshaft, tail housing, shift rail, the detent lever and slector finger assembly, offset lever and reluctor wheel. I believe that is everything.
