Default 1971 Chevelle L92 6L80E swap

After finishing the 85 cutlass I am starting on a new project. I'm putting a 2008 6.2L L92 and 6L80E in a 1971 Chevelle.

Nice. Where did you get the engine and transmission?

looks like a great start. I want to see what you have to do to the trans tunnel to make it fit.

Exactly my thoughts. I will be putting that exact same combo into a 1965 Buick Skylark. I have two thoughts on the transmission tunnel. One is to replace it with aftermarket sheet metal and cut out the old one.

Two is to cut the hump right down the middle and then cut across the top and about 36" back and pull the sides back. I have about 6 months before I get to that point. Still rounding up parts and doing research.

I know this thread is a little old but I just started the exact same swap and I'm looking for as much info on the trans tunnel. Did you ever finish it? Can you put up photos of what needed to be done from start to finish? Any help would be great. Thanks

I was looking at an ly6 stuck to a 6l80 and the guy was telling me I'd have to raise my trans tunnel by a foot the whole way back. That sounds ludicrous to me, and I'm pretty sure others have said a few inches would be adequate. Hopefully someone who has done it will jump in here and clarify.

I would suspect you need to raise your trans tunnel up around 1".

Going to be a sweet combo, I wanted to do the 6l80e in my chevelle swap but I figured it was going to be alot of cutting of the new floors. Cant wait to see the progress of this set up.
