Default Ford Alternator on a LS1 motor?

This is just a feeler thread.
We are looking at making an alternator bracket that will allow the use
of a ford alternator on an LS1 motor so the guys doing an LS1 swap in
a mustang can use their stock alternator.

This would make the alternator wiring plug and play.

We have two different Ford ALT's in the shop, One is from 5.0L Fox body, it has an external fan and all the wiring plugs in.

The other is from a 5.0L SN95, it looks like your "3G".
The 4.6 mod motor ALT looks like the 3G, are all the 3g's the same, SN95 5.0L and Mod motor?

So that's up to 4 different ford ALT's, Fox body, 5.0L 3G small, 5.0L 3G Large and Mod motor.

Is there a large and small case Mod motor 3G?

i dont believe so but ill try to search for you

now the diffrent 5.0 alts is many on the foxs as people get the larger case ones from sn95s and i believe the smaller case is from the explorer's, depends one which one they used when converting

just doing a quick seach if you plan to have the kits for stock alternators on cars it goes as follows

86-93 stock alts
94-95 as well as 94-00 v6 stock "3g" alts
96-98 gt stock alts
99-04 gt stock alts
96-01 cobra as well as 03-04 machs are the same
03-04 cobra

Some look the same but have diffrent plugs

Thanks for the info.

I'm going to do some picking at the local u-pull-it and try to cover all years.

It's looking like the later Fox's and SN95's use the same large case 3G and the Mod motor
use there version of the large case 3G.
