Default gen 3 motor ?

I have a 03 5.3 in my 80 k5 blazer. Recentlt blew up engine. I happened to have a 08. V8 motor on hand. My question is if the newr motor would work in replacement of the 03. I plan on just using the motor and heads. I noticed a few sensors where in different locations.

Yes.

Knock sensors were moved from the Lifter Valley on the Gen III to the side of the block on the Gen IV

The Cam positioning sensor was moved from the back to the front.

you might have a 24x Reluctor wheel vis the 58x for the Gen IV

Agree with BCZEE. You will have a 58x reluctor in the 2008 engine. You can either change the reluctor or use a lingenfelter box to convert the crank sensor from 58x to 24x. What size is the 2008 engine?

Why waste money on a expensive conversion box are removing the crank just to swap reluctor wheels as change campick up as well, just to run a 4.8L. Get the right motor.

Just look for a Gen III 5.3L long block 99-06 and carryover 2007's to replace it. Search car-part.com
