Default Ignition won't turn off after LS1 swap

I am just finishing a LS1 swap in my 69 Camaro and I finally got to fire it up. The problem is that when I try to shut it down the ignition jacks on the fuse box won't turn off. I tested the ignition ports with a light bulb and when I turn the key to the off position the test bulb gets very dim and the GEN light comes on in the dash but when I turn the key back on the GEN light goes out (the GEN light should be on when the key is in the on position when the motor is not running). I'm not sure if this was caused by the LS1 swap or not. I had this car running fine last year with an old 454. The only thing I can think of is that I removed the old voltage regulator because the new alternator has an internal voltage regulator. So now a wire is being run straight from the alternator/battery back to the fuse box when it used to go through the voltage regulator first.

Either that or my ignition switch might just be junk.
