Default 2nd P/S pump making noise???

So I just got my LQ4 running and the P/S was making some noise. I purchased another pump and same noise? I took the original fitting off the original pump and installed it on the trucks pump. Should I have used the spring and spool underneath it as well?

Hands are dirty and I'm in the garage!!

Thanks!!

Seems as though I have air in the system, how do I bleed this thing?

Is the pump off of a truck with hydraboost?
If so, the return line should be on the lower fitting..
If not, then Billy's idea on the Lucas is good. The tech at Borgeson suggested a 50/50 mix of Lucas/ps fluid.
To bleed it, jack it up, turn wheel lock to lock several times, engine off. Start engine and repeat...As you drive it, should some air still be in it, the system will complete the bleed cycle.

@ old Geezer, yes and the return line is on the upper fitting. Whats the theory behind the upper and lower fittings?

Thinking PS circulates fluid all the time, hydroboost only when pedal is depressed. Or maybe just bad design.

Make sure you don't have any kinked lines or hoses, especially on the low pressure side.

How bad is the noise? Is it ford power steering noise bad?

Ive got an Lq4 power steering pump as well and there is a little noise. always was. even with lucas and i tried royal purple. I also replaced my gear box after 15k miles on my swap because of a leak issue. im running normal fluid now and its still got the same little bit of noise...

The noise is bad, I can hear it over the engine running. Not the typical Ford type noise.

Old Geezer had it right, I had a few guys over at pro-touring say they run into the same issue, and the problem was also the same. Mounting the hose on the upper return is wrong, you have to use the lower return.

I'll chime in tonight after I move the hoses around and try it...
