Default My 79 Z28 project

I bought this car a while ago to restore. The guy who I bought it from had the same plan but to be kind just didn’t have it..LOL.. so I got it for a decent price knowing I was going to do a hybrid ... So.. The car was cheap enough and I rebuilt the suspension back to factory specs.. This isn’t going to be a high dollar project but done correct on the cheaper side.. Not the cheapest.. Some things I found it easier to pay for new than keep bidding and shopping for a deal...

So the body itself was a decent one for the money. Needed drivers side floors front and back the passenger side needs a small patch in front and the back floor. It has the typical quarter panel small holes in front of the back tires as well. Other than that the car is solid.

So floors were cut out, I learned how to weld putting new ones in and then used seam sealer and painted it, put down sound deadener and a new carpet is in as well. The interior body has been taken care of. I have a new used dash pas for it and wiring harness as well as a new harness for the engine bay. Progress is at the carpet right now. I need a new headliner and am not buying one for $265..LOL I will make one but need to figure out what backing to use. the original is a stiff foam backed thingy.... Not sure what to do on that one suggestions would be good. the material I can get at a fabric store and glue it on the backing. Use the old one for a template

Car is a triple black z28 from the LA plant. Stripped down model non-a/c no power anything...hahahaha

test fitting things... needed a new deck lid, the old one was body filled to death so its gone.. This car is all metal as far as that goes.. anything to dented was replaced.. got a whole new front clip for $250
The Vic Jr wont work, it sits to high and I'm not altering the hood so the standard ls1/6 intake and tb will be employed instead.. kind of a bummer I was going for the old school look

LOL, thats good to know but has anyone else had the issue I am having with the hotrod gm pan ? Is it me or the pan? I am going to get an fbody pickup and see if that will work. Dont dont want to spend more money on another setup... seems ridiuculous that I am having this issue.

I shouldnt have to get the cts-v pan should I??

painted now... putting the interior back in and painting the flairs and spoilers seperate and then attaching them.

Had a quick thought... using flat black on the flairs and spoilers?
red/orange stripe kit on da way as well

Car needs to be wet sanded and buffed.. pictures are right after paint.. mild peel should clean up nicely

Nice lookin car! I had an 80 that I wanted to do the same thing with, but sold it when my baby daughter came along... I was going to go Vic Jr too and make it work even if I had to alter the stock air filter/scoop... Maybe one day I'll get another one.

What pick up does the Hot Rod pan call for? Something is mismatched definitely. Fbody pan and pick up here, works well if you have to go this route. Every pic I've seen with a truck pan in a 2nd gen, it hangs below the cross member. Could be troublesome, it's low.

Yeah if you got the hot rod pan you just need the tube to go with it. It comes in the kit

The one they sold me with it ( the hot rod pan kit)isnt right, I'm sending it back.
The way I heard it is they ran out of the correct one and tried to use this one instead and because it works on an engine dyno they package it with it.. but the gap isnt correct at all... most people dont check it or dont know whats proper buts its cheap...LOL
