Default In tank fuel pump.....

Installed 5.3 in my 1948 Chevy pickup. Original gas tank was located under the bed and is in great condition. I would like to use an in tank fuel pump. The opening for the gas gauge float is 1 5/8 inches. Any suggestions what might work?

Look at the TanksINC set up. You will have to cut an opening for the retro I tank pump setup. Many are using them.
You can also try using a complete unit from a donor tank (camaro, GN, vette, etc).

few problems

need bigger hole than that.

and no baffle / tray in tank to hold gas in the area of the pump to not let it run dry.

best option get a aftermarket tank made to bolt in and or inline external pump mounted as close to the tank as possible.
