3.5" is usually a good starting point.. better question is what is the smallest restricted area in the rest of the Intake system.. MAF and TB.. what size are those ?.. would used that info on what to size the tubing..

I have 90 dregess elbow from my TB that is 4" and neck down to 3 1/2" which is what size my MAF is.. the rest of the tubing is 3 1/2" out to the filter.
