Default what mounts for LQ4 swap into 88 monte ss

what mounts do i need to use for the most clearance for swapping an LQ4 into my 88 monte ss? im going to be using the truck front accessories and oil pan and the hedman long tube headers for an 82-88 g-body, ive heard i should use the 1" setback mounts but id like to hear from somebody with first-hand experience, so if youre running a LS in a g-body with hedman longtubes and truck front accessories let me know what youre running for mounts, thanks

Default ls mounts

What's up... I used the 1inch set back mounts on mine also I have the cts-v pan and I'm running a f-body front fead. The truck coils hit the a/c box but I'm modding the box so I have more room.Hope that helps...

not sure yet im either gonna use the stock 200r4 or the built th350 out of my 71 monte, but it has a 6" tailhousing so its the same length as the 200r4 so i guess it doesnt really matter

If you want the power steering pulley to clear the steering box, you need to use the setback mounts.

Setbacks to use original trans. Setbacks clear cts-v pan nicely and they just barely clear fbody pan.

Far as I know those headers you plan to use won't work with the setbacks. I believe they do work with the non setback plates. You would need to pull the truck power steering pulley and press on a smaller one to clear power steering pump with the non setbacks.

yeah im going to be using a small block chevy trans and the stock truck pan and accesories for now so i need to use the setback plates, do you have any firsthand experience with the hedman headers not clearing? or have you just heard that? and if they dont clear what headers could i use?

Ive only read from others that the fit wasn't that good with the setbacks. A common cheaper header used with setbacks are the 98-02 fbody pacesetters.

ive heard about those but also heard they had to be modified, do you know exactly what has to be done to them for them to work? and do you know what size the primaries are on them?

1 3/4 primaries

Some bang on a tube to clear frame etc.

One guy in gbody swap thread cut the tubes at the flange almost halfway through. Then pull the headers away from the frame, then weld them back up. Looked like it gave nice clearance without banging on the headers. Driver side slides right in, think someone said they had issues with driver side though if you have column shifter.

I would advise not using a stock truck pan. It will clear, but it will hand hideously low past you cross member
