Default lq4 w/all accessories. Help plz

posting this for a friend who wants to do a swap. he ran into a guy who has a few lq4's, the guy wants 1950 for the eng, all acc, tac pedal and all the sensors (maf, o2 etc). here's where i think it gets interesting, though there is no trans, the price will include ecm pre flashed to remove vats and rear o2s (i believe) and the harness is already reworked to start with only 4 wires. My question is, good deal or bad?

How many miles? The harness rework and ecm flash is worth $4-500 alone. Also, if the seller includes every part you could possibly use in the swap, it is worth a lot in time and money to not have to round-up things like O2 sensors, throttle cable, Maf sensor...etc. Sounds like a good deal to me.

100-130k miles is the range he was speaking of, i thought it was a good idea myself. just trying to convince numb nuts it is. he thinks doing what i did is a better idea, but i would have rather just got an engine off a truck and dropped it str8 in. what i did, bought a totaled gto 04 with a good running motor for 4500, also bout a 87 merkur a guy already swapped a 01 camaro motor in for 2500 and it also runs pretty good. haven't started my swap yet (71 monte) cuz i've been driving the merkur around and lookin for another project to swap the other motor into as well. some say i did good but i still have the job of pulling 3 motors, and selling off parts from the gto, i've gotten myself into trouble lol

Ive seen several 150k mile lq4s on craigslist recently selling for 500-600. Came close to buying one for my s10 project but i dont like the idea of having to pull it back out because the valvetrain is pretty much shot by 170k

I picked up a 135k mile LQ4 off of craigslist for $600. It included everything except the alternator, PS pump, and AC compressor. I think you could do better than that price.

Bought mine from a you pull it yard complete, no cut wires, ecm, fully dressed with MAF, literally everything, for 200.... Had 135k miles. But it was a 2000 with iron heads, and the extended crank flange.

yea, well this 1 has everything on it so there's nothing to buy. it also has a warranty, no worries about if it works or not because he'll hook it up in front of you to let you hear it run, compression checked, etc. idk if i made that clear enough at first. i'm not opposed to gettin a junkyard motor because though you may have a warranty, who wants to put everything together and take it back apart cuz it doesn't work

Is it an actual custom harness or a factory one setup for a 4 wire hookup with the stock underhood fuse block? A custom harness is really nice if it is setup for the specific swap application...imo.

I personally think the price is too high, you should be able to pickup that setup without the pcm flash for $1200-$1400, or at least that's what they are going for over here. Another thing to consider is if he is going to leave it stock or modify it? Depending on the mods it may need to be reflashed anyways.

Yes, that's very high. That's more what I would expect an LQ9 to go for with similar miles.
