Default 1st Gen Camaro LS Swap engine received different motor than quoted?

I ordered an L33 5.3 motor and was quoted 950.00 plus tax and $130.00 for shipping for one with 42,000 miles out of a 2006 GMC. I was told that it wasn't DBW so I didn't need the gas pedal. ( I knew better but thought I could be wrong). I was also told some of the accessories would be missing but the brackets would be there and also that the ECM and harness would be included.

Today the motor arrives, no ECM, harness is cut above intake manifold and there are no accessories or brackets. The tag says 2006 Chevy 1500. I know that GMC and Chevy are almost the same but I do a search with the VIN and find out the motor has 127,000 miles on it. I call the seller and he offers me 2 options since I didn't get what I ordered.

1. ship the motor back at his cost and refund 100% of my money.

2. send me a DBC throttle-body, ECM and wiring harness and refund $2-250.00.

What should I do? Any suggestions?

That was the best price I found on an aluminum block LS motor and happened to have low miles.

Have you tried car-part.com?

I found this one on automotix.net. I put in a request for a specific motor and then any business that had what I wanted would contact me by email with their price. I was contacted by 3-4 different yards and the $950 was the cheapest and the most expensive was $1800+ if I remember correct.

Have you checked the inners of the engine. check the oil, valves, etc. if looking good and tight.. might be a good deal for #1 and work with it... but if the inner look bad. Send it back !

Just remember, there is always another deal somewhere.. sometime a better one !

just my 2 cents..

I haven't looked at the inside, I didn't want to take a chance that I couldn't send it back if I dismantled it. I will ask them if I can look inside and still send back if I am not happy with it.

Maybe I should press him for an LS1 intake, computer and harness. and all front
accessory brackets.

I bought an engine with 200k miles. Documented maintenance done all the way, and the engine internals are still "like new". Wouldn't be so afraid of high mileage, but of course it's a good card to play to get a decent price. Under $1000 sounds reasonable.

The mileage wouldnt scare me being lied to does though. I would at least try and pull the oil filler and look in the rockers see if they are clean or sludged up. The mileage though on that motor is no big deal. Car-part.com is a really goot site to list parts, always buy with a credit card that you can dispute the charges with as well. I just bought a 2004 5.3 with 100k on it, complete harness, and accessorie brackets for 700 plus tax and picked it up. EXTREMELY clean. So price is not too far off. I can get 5.3's a little older or higher mileage all day long for 400-500.
