Default Harness question

I'm working on my 68 camaro I got everything fitted to put the motor in.

I have a donor car an 02 camaro ls1/t56

Can I use the whole harness?

Do I need to take the harness somewheres to get it to work?

Do I keep all sensors on motor and tranny?

Another question was do I need a torque on for tranny?

Thanks sorry for all the question

You can slap the whole harness on, but it will probably look like crap. Best to rework it some to fit better, or to buy a pre-made swap harness from a sponsor.

lt1swap.com has great info on the harness. Its very simple to do.

Keep all the sensors you need. Some people delete the MAF, some keep it. Rear O2s, EGR, and EVAP stuff are also optional depending on your emissions laws.

Emission is not a problem, maybe re work might be better.

I really don't want wires visible

Nope. Just the engine stuff. Unless you want the F-body dash. The engine and transmission harness should come out as a single piece.

I suppose you could try to keep the ABS and traction control, but that would be a ton of custom work.

You dont need the emissions stuff for the engine. For the transmission i would recommend you keep the reverse lockout and vss. If you are going to run it in closed loop, keep the MAF and Front O2 Sensor hookups.

Closed loop is when the PCM is getting feedback from the O2 Sensors to provide fuel and spark adjustments. This provides better driveability and fuel economy, typically. Closed Loop occurs when the engine reaches a certain temperature as well as a few other parameters.

I've done a harness for a friend and reworked mine.. they work and were essentially free (minus cost for shrink tubing and solder).

However, unless you are very savvy with a DVOM, Checking for power and continuity, then I suggest letting someone do it for you that does it for a living. Spending the extra cash on a plug and plug harness from PSI will save you a lot of time, headache and worries. You could even sell your stock harness to recoup some costs. What's nice about PSI is Jon is on the boards all the time answering harness questions for no fee to the DIY type although he sells swap harnesses.. ironic? No just the best business out there for custom LSX crowd!

Soulja,

Cost for the harness is $499 and it includes the T56 Reverse Lockout and VSS hookup.

Superbean,

Thanks for the kudos! We do what we can.
