guy local has a new ls6 cam in the box for 250 bucks.

is this a good upgrade for the 5.3 ? and if so price good ?

if its a good upgrade what other parts are needed ?

i admit i am super new at the ls stuff. but learning . thanks for the help guys .

Overpriced for a stock cam imo.

its not really worth the work for the small gain unless you are going turbo or blower. even then i would get a custom cam. just my 2 cents. you wont get any "cammed" sound or anything. maybe 15hp at the wheels. im sure others will say im wrong but ive swapped a few cams and i would rather feel like i acheived something afterwards. not a stock idle and 15hp.

I think you need LS6 springs as well. I'd pass. A decent cam kit (cam, springs, pushrods) is under 1k.

15hp for a couple hundred bucks, while the motor is out, doesn't sound bad to me.

Save your money. You'll need pushrods, valve springs, timing chain, etc. to do it correctly. Why half-*** it?
