1949 Studebaker 5.3 turbo
Hey guys,
I'm putting a 5.3 into my Stude pickup and have some questions. I'm not building the truck for drag racing or anything, just a fun truck to run errands in and things like that.
I've been reading alot on the forum and this is what I have bought so far.
03 5.3/4l60e stock
ebay gt45
walbro 255
f.a.s.t. 60 lb/hr injectors
hptuners/ but i'll have an experienced tuner do the initial tune
ebay intercooler
arp bolts for the heads,rods,mains
i'll probably do the 317 head swap and upgrade my valve springs and pushrods and a zo6 cam.
I haven't had much time to work on the truck since I've been back from Afghanistan, but I finally had a break from moving across country and work. I cut down an s10 frame to the wheelbase I needed, built my cab and bed mounts, mounted everything, mounted the engine and trans, fabbed the hotside and and built the radiator and intercooler mounts. I rewired the truck and mounted the gauges. i still have to do the brakes and properly mount the steering column, but it's not too far out. I got my PCM base tuned so I can at least get it running on just the motor before I head back to the sandbox if a few weeks.

Very nice, I have a friend that has a '49 with a stock 5.3 and he loves it. There are some pictures of it in this album
