Lt1/LS1 T56 Swap.... Why?
I know there are a few parts that need to be changed on the LSx engines if you want to use an older T56.
I don't know why.
Here is a guy who bolted a T10 an LSx, why can't the same "procedure" be done for an older T56?

Input shaft length/clutch styles are completely different. That's the primary issue. The Clutch on a LTx motor is unique as it pulls on the pressure plate instead of pushes on it; this is why it's not as simple as a T-10, M2x, Richmond, etc swap on a LS motor.

The lt1 uses a 153 tooth flywheel. The ls1, and alot of sbc style trans use a 168 tooth flywheel. THe larger flywheel will not fit in the lt1 bell. you could get a custom flywheel, but they are expensive. Cheaper to convert or sell an lt1 trans and buy an ls trans.
