Default Help W/PSI conversion Harness

Gents,

Just some minor wiring left for the electrical portion. I'm running a TKO 600, but I have a question about 2 under dash wires.

The "brake signal wire" and the "park/neutral wire"

Would these be required for my swap?

The park neutral wire is there to give a ground signal to the pcm in park and neutral. It is not required but it is advised so the pcm knows when your in park or neutral.

The brake signal wire which im guessing is purple is for the torque converter lock up signal. It should have a constant 12v until you hit the brakes and then it should lose voltage.

Where would you connect a neutral signal? There's nothing like that on the 5 speed

Considering your car has a manual transmission you wont be using it. I wonder why PSI included the wires if it was not an automatic transmission harness? Odd to me.

That's what I was thinking...Jon at PSI was caught up with the hurricane, so he is currently un-avail to ask for sure.

if you can look and find out where the wires go to the pcm I can tell you for sure.

The Brake signal wire should go to Blue 33

And the neutral safety wire should go to blue 34.

Let me know and I can tell you for sure.

Just shot the pins, I do have continuity from pin Blue 33 to the brake signal wire and the same for 34 to the neutral wire. They are purple and Orange respectfully.

The PNP wire is also used to do a case relearn. A lot of people who need to do one, cannot figure out why it won't take.......this is the reason...

You can take both of them out. Do you have a gray wire on pin 32 blue connector?

T,
Even on a pcm that is flashed with a manual operating system?

This would suprise the hell out of me because you will NEVER find anything pinned at blue 34 on a manual harness. On blue 32 you will find the clutch switch signal.

Im not saying that, just questioning that in all instances you have to have the NSS to do crank relearn.

I'm pretty sure I just grounded my NSS wire on my swap. If I remember right, it needs ground before the PCM thinks your in park or neutral to let the car start. Grounding it will allow it to start in park or neutral, along with reverse or drive if you're not careful. I'd connect it to the switch on the clutch pedal that gets grounded when you press in the clutch.

This is what im getting at. However, the clutch switch wiring is NOT pinned in the same place and will be moot anyway because a manual trans operating system will not care if it gets a ground signal on blue 34 like the auto operating system. And just because you ground the wire going to the pcm does not mean that you have properly completed the NSS circuit, that also has to control the starter relay.

I'm confused..I don't understand the acronyms or the terms used here.

Edit...Ahh I see, the "neutral Safety Switch"....Do have one on the factory wiring. So a continuous ground wouldn't be unsafe in my case. yu "I'm not sure what is meant by "Crank relearn"

Crank relearn, or case relearn as it's called, is usually required when you switch computers. The PCM usually sets this code if there is a problem.....do a search in the tuning forum, a lot of good info there.

You are running a manual transmission you will not need either wire. What harness did you purchase from psi? what was the part number?

I bought their T56 with Cable throttle body harness. I think the harness is for T56 and NON electronic automatic.

HAR-1013.
