I'm in the dark. I have a 62 Biscayne ( Canadian car) and the frame is boxed from the factory almost the whole frame, except in the rear from the gastank rearwards isn't.

Cleaning up the stock stamped frame. Sharpening the edges and covering up the crinkles from the factory. Plus I'm cleaning up the ugly body mounts. I'm on the fence, either hydraulics (I've been lowriding for 17 yrs) or I may take this one down the "lowrod" road. Time will tell.

Odd you'd have an "American" frame under a Canadian car. Canadian frames are stronger then the American frames. I've had 2 Canadian frames over the years, I won't build an American frame. I've seen too many fail.

I'm hoping to pick up a motor soon. I keep losing the auctions on eBay, I'm shooting for a ls1 out of a vette, push come to shove thou, my buddy has a ls1 and 4l60 from a camero laying around collecting dust. That might be my option. Stay tuned

U may get some twist on the frame with that motor. X frames are a bad design. Big brakes are nice too. My buddy has some porsche brakes I'm trying to score. With that being said, I did the spindle swap from an early 80s caprice. I don't like the stock spindle and I sure don't trust the bolt on upgrade kit they offer for the impala. Seems to "chinsy" to me.

Looking great. You're having all the same body work to do (ie cut quarters off, etc) that I had to do on my '56 convertible. Did mine back in 1983-85. Still have it.

Here's an update pic, global west tubular uppers and lowers. As I stated before, I'm putting hydraulics on it (been lowriding since 96') it's in my blood. So with that said, the uppers were extended 1" 1/4, I did the caprice spindle conversion. Stronger spindle and cheaper swap. Here's a pic with some 13x7s and this is about ride height in the front. The rear will lay out when I have my bumper kit on it

Here's the motor, it's a 4.8 from a wrecked 2004 silverado z-71. I picked up the whole 9 yards, motor, harness and ecu for $400. I felt it was a great deal

Nice project, but I have to disagree on the comment about the frames.
The X-frame from 59-64 is no more likely to twist than any other stock frame in my opinion. I've raced one for years and know MANY other people who have as well with very few modifications to the frame. Several 10 second and 9 second cars with frames that are not much more than stock GM.
