Physically possible to fit in 77-90 b car? I'm cool on wiring and tuning, but what about oil pan, motor mounts, and headers?
Car is 77 impala coupe.

Thanks,
-Garrett

As far as I understand, the 8.1 is basically an updated big block. I'd start by seeing what's involved in a 454 swap for those cars.

Yeah, I don't think it's really LS stuff, just slightly changed old stuff. From what I've read the aftermarket isn't really there for it the way it is for legit ls motors.

It should fit without any problems, and with a stock 8.1L /Allison in my 2500HD with just a "Tune" I think it would be pretty fun in a Caprice.

You can use any headers designed for BBC, and the motor mounts are the same as SBC/BBC mount points. All the threads in the block are metric however, so make sure to get the engine as complete as possible, and save and re-use all the hardware you pull off the engine.

Oil pan appears to be a rear sump, not sure if you can install a older BBC pan. You'll have to check around.
