Default 1st gen F-body Question

How did you guys mount your 98-02 fbody ls1 radiator/fans? I cut out the boxes on the core support but instead of reinventing the wheel, I'd figure I'd ask and see what everyone else did as far as holding the top and the bottom in place against the core support. Pictures are always useful, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!

Tony

You are trying to use a 98-02 F-body Radiator and Fan.. Right ?

I just mounted it as it would be for my Nova, which is pretty much the same as the 1st gen F-Body. replaced the upper Rubber and just use a standard 3 hole Radiator Support.

For the Bottom, I drilled a hole to allow the Radiator bottom Pin and Gromet to seat on the bottom of the Radiator Support.

I did open up the Left side of the Radiator Support to accomadate the larger size of the Radiator.

Yes, I am using the 98-02 LS1 fan/radiator combo. I still don't understand how you got that sucker mounted. I thought we were supposed to use the factory clip looking rigs with some sort of supports. I wanted it as close to the core support for as much room as possible (since the fans stick out pretty far) for turbo piping. Can we get more pics of the radiator/core support by chance? Appreciate your insight!

I just went out and looked, I just have a core support, nothing down below that the radiator can sit on or mount to. The factory setup bolted to the core support. My firebird was a 6 cylinder car, maybe that's the difference. Odd.

Mine was a six fly also, but it was a Chevy 250.... guess they had different core supports.

Lucky man. I have to build some sort of bracket or something to hold the top and bottom of mine. I'm about as far from 'handy' as you can get though...

Anyone else? Someone has to have some insight? A type of bracket or something I can buy and rig up or should I be measuring and cutting/welding (or in my case, having someone do it since i'm accident prone lol)?
