Default T56 Hydraulics to 68 Camaro Pedal

I just finished everything up and went to test the car in gear on a lift, and the clutch pedal isn't fully engaging. The travel on the pedal feels really short.

I welded a small tab on the near the top of the clutch pedal (IIRC it was just above the muncie rod hole).

I'm not really sure what needs to be fixed, tons of people have done this and their pedal offered enough travel, I'm confused as to why my pedal is so short and unable to disengage the clutch...

Any thoughts?

I tried moving the pedal+rod pivot point up, didn't help.

Is the pedal hitting the firewall?

I don't believe so, I didn't check after I raised the contact point, but I don't think it did.

I had to modify the firewall on my SS when I installed the Clutch Pedal & LS1 Fbody Master Cyl. There should be enough swaps here tho of them first gen Camaros that's a standard.

Do we have to use the stock 1st gen camaro pedal assembly? I want to go the t56 route but my car is auto. Sorry if I asked this in your posting but maybe well both get the answers we need. If not ill post my own thread.

If the new hole on pedal is above the original hole, you have shorten the stroke/lever.
Place the new below the original hole and stroke is increased in length.

Did you make your own adapter plate to bolt the master cylinder to or did you buy one? You may have the wrong angle on the master cylinder.

Ok, so to put this in simple people terms:
Above Muncie hole = The Master has to travel a longer distance for same displacement
Below Muncie hole = The Master has to travel a shorter distance for same displacement

Because the pedal only travels so far. Is this right?

No, you can use the tilton floor mount setup, but it's super ******* expensive.

I bought the ebay one, same angle as the Speedtech bracket.

u just have to make sure it pedal is giving the master the full stroke.had that problem in mine.either buy the adjustable tick which I plan to do someday but right now I modified my stock got one with an adjustable heim on the end to adjust for full stroke I've had no problems.

Burbalanche, do you have a pic of your modified heim and rod? Was trying to figure out how to get the factory heim off... Thanks!

I Did the same as Burbalanche. I used a cutoff wheel to cut the original rod, then welded a hardware store threaded sleeve to it, then used a threaded heim to atach to the pedal. I used the factory Muncie hole.

how long have you had the tranny to the engine? Mine was together for a year. i have a 67 and thought i did not have enough travel but found my clutch and flywheel were stuck together. i fired it up in gear(on stands), pushed in the clutch ans slammed on brakes. small pop noise and now it works like a charm. just a thought.

i have one in my camaro 68 , went with the bracket like you have , maser an slave came from a 96 camaro , it was a very short push and very stiff , bought american powertrains versaion for 600 bucks its a "slight" improvement , very short and still very stiff

i think its the nature of the pedal geometry
