If you don't already have a TH400 laying around, I'd suggest using the 4L60 since it bolts right up and the PCM can control it. No kickdown cable to set up, no adapters, etc.

4l60 for sure if it's a stock motor and you're not going to beat on much. Like said before, PCM will run it plus overdrive. Go anywhere with it.

A well built 4l60e should handle your mild 5.3 all day long. The th400 sucks up more hp.+ the 4l60e gives you better acceleration with its 3.06 low gear ratio and the advantage of lower cruising rpms thereby added fuel economy.

I agree, with a stockish 5.3l the 4l60e will feel more lively and keep highway cruising bearable. If you plan on making big power stick an 80e in it.

Overdrive will help a lot. The only reason to go TH400 is if you're trying to save money or require no electronics. Otherwise the 60 would be my choice.

FWIW the TH400 has no kick down cable or TV cable. It has a kick down switch that needs a signal for WOT and a vacuum source. Those two along with a built-in governor dictate when it will shift.

4L60E has overdrive, but the 400 is stronger
kind of comes down to rear end ratio and if you want OD or not
there's always the 4L80E, best of both worlds

For a car that you plan on driving a lot, you made the right choice. The only reason to go with the th400 would be if you planned on spending a lot of time at the track.
