Default Metric to barb hose fitting??

Need a fitting like this one, but with a barb hose fitting instead of the AN fitting.
Any ideas? My eyes are going crossed from looking at Google etc!
Metric to barb hose fitting??-tranny-fitting.jpg

I made an adapter plate to mate a LM7 with a ZF4HP24 tranny which is in the Range Rover, and the OEM line will not fit due to an adapter nut and a little nit of bolt sticking out right above the cooler fitting!
I can run tranny cooler hose to an aftermarket cooler though without a problem.
Ideas??

Automec in the UK has a good assortment of metric connectors.

I didn't see anything with a hose barb though.

Summitracing has an excellent web site for picking out adaptors. They don't seem to have a lot of metric to hose barb stuff.

Total brain fart, sorry guys.
189mm x 1.5 is the threaded end we think. Getting it checked this week though. The barb end can be anything that tranny cooler line will utilize, so 3/8", 5/16", etc.
I work away from home, so hard for me to check from 100's of miles away...
I emailed Earl's, they have nothing like that with a barb fitting.
Will look into the UK site too, thanks!
Many thanks,
Martin

Why on earth would you want a barb fitting on a tranny cooler line. Use AN and braided stainless so you don't have problems. I hope the 189MM was a typo, cuz that's f-ing huge.

Phone typo...
18mm x 1.5 is the size.
I have ran barb fittings on tranny cooler hose before, no problems myself when I use fuel line clamps on the hose.
As for the reason, there is a nut an bolt in the way, directly above the cooler fitting on the tranny (as said in the first post). I should have room for a barb, but not enough for AN.

18x1.5 is the same thread as an oxygen sensor, so not that outrageous.

Perhaps you could get an adapter to 3/8 NPT. Lots of hose barbs available for that. Here is a whole page, but I think the gender might be reversed.

http://www.parker.com/portal/site/PA...&Wtky=ADAPTERS

At any rate a hydraulic shop or tractor supply might have what you need.

Or just get a brass O2 sensor plug, drill it out and solder in a short piece of tubing that you flare

Grainger has a number of different adapters.

Martin,

Try Goodridge Fluid Transfer Systems. They have distributors in the UK. They catalog any fitting imaginable. A selection like no other.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!
I am in Missouri, and moved from England by the way.
The problem with a reducer fitting is that they dont have the flared tubing and o ring on them, thus may be prone to leaking I think when there is just a surface o ring on the fitting. The outer surface on the tranny was never meant to for a seal, thus is not machined perfectly flat etc.
Will have a look through the links and see what I can find.
Many thanks
Martin

EDIT, Looked at every link, and they are all flat surfaces for the seal, and not the flared tubing with an o ring.....

You can run this, and run a PUSHLOCK hose barbed An fitting.

http://www.racepartsolutions.com/sea...=&stype=&scat=

Either FROGOLA # 460818 with 200108(pushlock)

or

491964 with 200106

But what hose are you looking to use,..either -6 or -8?(3/8 or 1/2)

Same issue of trying to get a seal against an unmachined surface though.
The seal was inside the hole, via the flared tube and o ring, much like a power steering hose I would say.
Here is a crude picture showing what I mean:
Metric to barb hose fitting??-tranny-fitting-text.jpg

So an o ring on the top of the threaded part would probably leak, as it was made for the seal to be inside, using the o ring on the tubing. The nut can spin independently of the tube inside too.

So, the pic you just posted, is that what you need?(sorry working and trying to help at same time)

If what you needed was the picture above, thats exactly what fragola part # 491964 looks like...exactly.

Googling the image brings up one like that, then ones without o rings, so maybe my Google is playing tricks on me!
That is the fitting, which I know I can get, but I am really needing a barb fitting instead of the AN fitting on it. I could always try to fit that, then a 45 degree angle fitting, then a hose?

I vote for this. Have someone turn down the other end and weld on a barb fitting.

I looked for what you might need but the toyotas I deal with use a 16x1.5 fitting. I got a couple from a place in Canada but I am having a hard time digging up their info to see if they have what you are looking for.

Just leave it AN,..and buy a PUSHLOCK hose end...which is barbed.. easy.

Or if you already have a hose that fits it, cut the metal fitting going into it and braze/weld or NPT tap to attach a barb.

Looks like a friend of mine in Oregon may have a lead on a couple for me, although from where I do not know!
Problem with the metric, to AN, to barb, is the height, I dont have enough room to do all that. The adapter plate bolt/nut is maybe 1-1.5" above the port on the tranny,
Turning down another type of fitting is the other option if he doesnt come through with a fitting.
the 16x1.5 may be a possibility though, as a reducer bushing would not take up too much height.....

Many thanks

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...d=barb+fitting
or try one of these... http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/se...&brand=Russell

Adapt down from your larger size and put it together... If none of that works, find an O'reilly in your area(they're all over Missouri) and see if they can help or, better yet, go find a hose making shop. The latter would be my choice unless one of those fittings is a direct match. Have a nice day.
