Default wiring and computer to control 6L80 - need help

I have checked with FAST and Holley and neither one has a system to control the motor and the 6L80. I'm running a L76 (ls2 lower/ls3 upper)

The only thing I can think of is to use the PSI harness and buy HP tuner.

Any suggest without breaking the bank? I would like to stay around $1500 and I would prefer to have a self tuning system.

You want something lower cost than PSI?

NO, the PSi harness is about $700 - HP tuner software is about $600 - this puts me about $1300 (considering I can program my own PCM - I have no prior expierence with PCM tuning/flashing)

I am fine with that.

I really would rather have a self tuning system like the Holley Dominator or Fast efi system - those usually run around the $1500 range, but thier pcms can not control the 6L80 - six speed automatic transmission.

So I am really looking for self tuning options that can control the 6L80 or maybe some advance about tunability with the HP tuner.

I think a factory ECM is best if used with the 6l80 because the trans is controlled by its internal TCM. This TCM gets its ECM signals over the hi speed LAN bus and I'm pretty sure there's no aftermarket ecms that can communicate with the TCM.

That is petty much it in a nutshell. At least for the time being. You can use the factory E38 computer and maybe one other factory version.

ok - so my only option is to use a Psi harness (or something similar) and have the computer flashed or buy the hp tuner and flash it myself?

Is HP tuner very difficult to work with. Can a beginner set up the computer and learn how to do some engine tuning and change shift points, etc.

As a beginner, you probably don't want to start trying to change anything on a 6L80E tune. They are very complicated and you can burn one up if you change something that didn't need to be changed.
