Default help! Radiator choice for 70 chevelle LQ4 swap

hey guys, i have a 70 chevelle i swapped an lq4 in and im looking to purchase a radiator... definitely going with something aluminum. just wondering if 2 row is enough or should i go with 3 or 4? not running a mechanical fan im going to run an electric fan set up, not sure whether single or dual (up for suggestions on that as well...) most likely puller style.

engine will be pretty mild. pretty much stock rebuild with a performance cam, long tube headers, ls6 intake, a good tune, and possibly water meth.

here is the link to the one im currently looking at http://www.summitracing.com/parts/gri-8-00008-ls

I am going to use a 2002 Camaro set up. My thougths are if it works well with the Camaro so well it should do the job on my 70 Chevelle. I ended up going with a Zap aluminum radiator off ebay. I cant say how well it will do because my build is not complete but it looks and fits good. You have to do a few thing to get it to fit but nothing major. You can see pics on my tread. 70 Chevelle LS1 T56 Build. Best of luck with your build.

Take a look at northernfactorysales.com, they produce an LS swap radiator that fits very well with the LQ4.

The one you list from Summit has no tranny cooler, you'll be running a separate tranny cooler? Or is this a manual tranny car?

the website is only listing one radiator for ls conversion and it looks like the upper waterneck is on the drivers side. i see yours comes out on the passenger side which is what i need too. also there are no prices listed. do you remember about what you paid for yours? thanks

why not get a junkyard radiator from a camaro or firebird. just make mounts from square tubing. be sure to get the rubber mounts from the donor car. simple fix for my 65 impala swap.

the closest junk yard is over an hour away and the last time i was there they didnt have a single fbody in the entire place. and in this case id rather buy something direct fit that is made for my application.

The number of cores is a misleading stat, what is important is the surface area available. 2 large cores could be better than 4 small ones. What is wrong with you stock radiator?

I used the factory 1972 Chevelle 2 row on my LY6 swap and it was plenty. These LS motors have very efficient cooling so don't go crazy unless you have cash to spare. I used a reducer bushing for the waterpump hose. I think the best option for the truck motors is the 2010+ camaro water pump.

I am pretty sure that the # is 205215, listed as an LS swap. PM me for a phone # and contact info.

Get a dual-pass, they have both outlets on the PASS side. Jeg's has them in 3 sizes around $230, but they can be had off the 'Bay for $50 less.

On my 71 chevelle i used the radiator from a mid 80s s-10 the stock 5.3 hoses fit without any mods or cutting and i used the nipple already on the the radiator to run my steam line to( that had to be reduced to make that connection) I run an electric fan nothing special and it cools just fine. Drove all summer long in 100 plus heat, stop and go traffic ,and spirited driving no issues at all.

I am planning on using an aluminum 2 core with dual 12" fans for my 78 vette swap. Will let the Holley HP control when the fans turn on.
