Ls 5.3 truck cruise control in a 40 ford
Ls 5.3 truck cruise control this is all in a 40 ford
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Running a 2008 5.3 out of a Silverado. I am trying to make cruise control work. I am using a BCM and the stock cruise control steering wheel switch pod. The cruise worked fine the first time each day. Once you drive it and then kill it, the cruise will no longer work. It won't work again that day. The next day or so it will work the first time you drive it only. Help Dennis

Do you have a scanner or a way to check and see if there are any trouble codes? What transmission are you using and is the VSS installed and functional? How is your wiring harness modified for stand alone (or which vendors harness is it?)
With some more details on your setup there are a lot of knowledgable people on this board that can help.

The Tech 2 scanner shows all functions to be working. There are no DTC's listed. I modified the stock harness to fit in the Ford. I am using the stock 4L60E trans. We removed all the components from a wrecked 2008 Silverado. The cruise will set the first time it is driven and work all day until you turn off the key. From that point on it will not work the rest of the day. Try it again a few days later and it will do the same thing again.

I put cruise on a 1974 Honda Civic that I converted to AWD with OBD1 EFI. Yes I know this is a way different system but I did have a similar problem to you albeit with way less frequency. I added a switch that cut power to the cruise control module. When the problem would happen I would turn it off for a minute or two then turn it back on and it would work. I realize this is kind of a band aid but if it works it might also lead to diagnosis of your actual problem.
