Default Radiator Size Requirement

Building a track car and clearance is tight. There is no off the shelf solution for me. I'll most likely be using an electric pusher fan in front of the radiator.

What size radiator are people using in tightly packed imports or euros? How small of a radiator will work? I have about 28-29" in length available, 18-19" in height, it's the thickness of the core that's an issue. I have a 3" radiator right now and I'd like to drop that back to about 2 1/4"

Summit has some nice 2 1/4" options but I can't find empirical evidence as to what is sufficient.

Thanks in advance

A pusher won't work near as well as a puller fan, you knew that right? Both my 'rods cool exceptionally well here in SETX with aluminum radiators. My GN powered S-10 has a stock '86 Corvette single-core radiator and my Mav has a Jeg's dual-pass two-core 26" x 16" (the middle size of their house brand).

LS motors don't seem hard to cool while modern aluminum radiators are much more efficient than the old brass ones.

I'm running a stock single core radiator from an Astro van in my 240z. It measures 25x18 inches (including the tank) and is 1 3/8 inch thick. No cooling issues on a 440 HP LS2. I run a taurus 2 spped fan but only need the low speed.

Griffin 55241-xs

It's what most of the people who move the 4th Gen F-Body radiator vertical use; most are fine even in boosted applications. Match it with a Flex 420 (I think it's a 420) fan, and you're good to go.

what are thoughts on this one -- any reason it would under cool?

Other than being a downflow and not a crossflow, no. MFG's got away from downflow for a reason, can't imagine a company building new ones...
