Transmission to Oil Pan Bolts
On my LS2 and T56 combo, I noticed when I was mocking up the pan to the transmission, only the lower left bolt would line up to a hole in the pan. The lower right side pan bolt hole is just outside the trans bell housing and maybe an inch or so away from the corresponding bell housing hole.
Anybody know what I might be missing here? I only have 7 bell housing bolts; there are eight holes in the bell housing. I guess the extra hole is not being used?
Look at the pic; you can see that the hole in question is right below the cut I made to modify the sump depth.

You don't need the extra holes, it is a NVH (Noise Vibration and Harshness thing). Gen I / II's didn't have them and broken bell housings that have been properly tightened are extremely rare. Mine has been that way over three years with no issues.
Are you using the "muscle car pan" from GM? Mine didn't line up either.

I always assumed it was the stock GTO pan. It was already installed in the car when I started on it. It may have been swapped. I'll have to look into that.
