Default OBD II Error

This subject was touched upon before, but it wasn't clear what the recommendations were. I get a "Data Link Error" on my Accutron OBD II reader. According to my diagram, it is wired correctly, i.e. C1,58 to pin 2, pin 16 to constant +12v, and pins 4 & 5 to (common) ground. I previously read that some code readers simply don't work of the LSx, but I find that hard to believe. Is there a way to test pin 2 for data transmission? Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Andy1

Get a Multi Meter and make sure the wire is good from DLC2 to PCM Blue 58.

My Actron scanner works with my swap (2002 LM7). It gets confused if you don't already have the key turned to "run" when you plug it in though (and throws a DL error). It also has problems seating in the DLC sometimes and I'll have to unplug it and plug it back in.

If it works, power and ground should be ok (most cheaper units don't have internal power). Check the data line for continuity.
