Default 5.3 turbo temp reads high

I am getting close to getting my car on the road. Its a LM7 with a 72mm turbo. The cooling system consist of a cross flow Griffin radiator, electric fan in a shroud, F body water pump. Alt is mounted on pass side and has idler to catch 60% of water pump while turning. I have the steam tubes plumbed into the top of the water pump. Problem I am having is,after allowing the car to idle for about 10 mins, the reading for the coolant temp for the ecm climbs to over 250 and then the MIL comes on and sets a p1258. The coolant in the rad is cool, the hoses are cool. The sensor is in the drivers side front of the head. I dont have the coolant gauge hooked up yet...ive been just running it for short periods to check for leaks and such.

What am i missing here?

Thanks

Did you bleed the air out of the system when filling?

What is the condition of the thermostat?

Guessing thermostat is stuck or it's air locked.

well..i kinda feel stupid..I was slow at work today and since the car is here I messed with a bit. I pulled the hose off the steam tube, no coolant came out. I filled the rad till it had a steady stream. reconnected...all ok now. Thanks for the help
