Questions regarding a bone stock 5.3 swap into a 90 k1500 My motor.just blew at least a head gasket if not.more and currently the motor has 148k on the clock. If I needed a good amount of.money dumped into the motor I was considering a bone stock early 2000s 5.3 matted to.my 700r4 . I do.not want to.do.anything to.the motor.so it would be a bone stock.swap.
I know there's the budget 1500 dollar thread here but besides the swap.parts could it be done on the cheap.side? For instance, the stock wiring harness on the 5.3 what would I have to do.with that?
Again this is just a thought but hell.if its a little.more for a 5.3 swap why not especially if its not.getting upgraded so the stock reliability will.be in tact

It can be done fairly cheap if your trucks fuel injected already. If its carbureted you gotta change the fuel system around alittle, and adds some cost. But here are the basics.
Complete Motor $400-$700
Swap plates for the mounts $50-$100
Psi wiring harness $500 <--easiest way to wire
Computer $50-$150
Fuel line fittings $40
Flex plate spacer $50-$100
Then always alow another couple hundred for misalanious hardware, clips, and other little ends and odds.

Yes truck is fuel injected already (5.7 TBI).
the truck is being shipped to the shop today I should find out in the next couple days. I just figured the benefit of better miles per gallon more power and longevity of the LS motors would be perfect for this truck. I don't want to sell it just at the gas mileage got better it would be easier on my wallet

For a really cheap conversion on the 88-95 trucks, I've always considered dropping in a 5.3L with a carb'd intake with a carb-to-TBI adapter, and trying to reuse the existing TBI injection setup. It wouldn't be a screamer, but it would probably run you considerably less then $1000 depending on what kind of deals you could get, the majority of the cost being the engine itself, and the aftermarket intake.

OK so I bought the motor have the wiring harness shipped and have bought tune up parts like plugs and wires ect. My next question is I see postings on needing to upgrade not only the fuel pump but lines that can take more psi. Which lines need to be replaced if not all of the fuel.lines? And the vette fuel filter is needed as well.correct?

OK so correct me if I'm wrong but I've read that I'd need these two fittings to.adapt my stock.hard line for fuel.to the intake. Now my intake is a 03 Tahoe 5.3 flex fuel and has one fuel line opening driver side pointing towards the rear.
So I need to run both of these to go.off the rails to my stock hard lines, correct?
