Default 5.3 swap too much fuel pressure?

5.3 is out of 2006 tahoe. Swap was going great. Started and ran great. After running a few times it does not start as good but runs seems to be running little rich. If I clean plugs and blow out it starts and runs better for 10-15 minutes but then back to same problem of harder start and slight misfire. I am running 65-67psi which I think is a little high but wondering if that could be causing my running and starting problem?

Are you able to check for codes?

It sounds like the computer doesn't know how much fuel to give it, so it's just dumping it in to be safe.

yes, i have no codes thrown. I did at first so I know it is working but it was a minor fix from an unplugged coolant sensor.

Too small of a return or a defective FPR are my guesses. I've heard that the cheaper filter/regulators can be a bit sketchy sometimes.

#57 psi should be used unless you have some different injector and tuned for them. Most likely that is you cause for running rich.

I am running the s10 filter fpr (Wix) and not sure why my pressure is 65. Only thing I can think of is I plumbed it wrong at first (switched the supply and return port) and maybe damaged it...??? I will make sure my return line is not restricted though.

What size are the lines?
I tried using the stock lines on a 2nd gen Camaro and pressure was too high. Had to go to a 3/8 return.

Faulty filter/regulator. I'm not sure on that pressure on the s10 reg. but you need to be around 57#

I just disconnected my return line and found my pressure did drop to 61 psi so my return must be restricting. Thinking I should still switch to the corvette fpr.

have you tried replacing the S10 FPR.. ?.. or try using the Vette FPR (GF822).. ? which would be my recommendation.

I'm using -6 for my return. Even though my return is 10 inches long lol. Haven't checked to see what pressure I have yet. Haven't had any fuel related problems yet (knock on wood)

I would switch. I'm using the 33733 filter works great.

As long as you have a good brand one. WIX is good. I only listed the Delco one cause it is OEM Standards.. Some of them cheaper brands have been known to have problems. Even when brand new..!

I have the vetter fpr/filter on order. I am conscerned that is not my only problem as even now with 61 psi if I run for about a minute it seems to flood pretty quick now. Maybe I need to unplug my battery to have computer re-learn fuel ratio though.

I wouldn't think you'd need too. Check your injectors. Pop the rail off with your injectors still in the rail and prime the system. See if a injectors stuck open. Also check your oil. See if it has an oil smell to it. I would bet you have fuel in the oil as well

It is possible running that High pressure many have damaged them?. check the resistance.. should be about 14ohms.

65 psi isn't going to damage the injs.
If the engine has been stored for an extended period, the injs may be gummed up.
I clean injs for the local junk yard. This is a frequent issue w/ the engines they have in storage.

I popped the rail off and primed the system and appears to have no leaks. Good call on oil. Could that be how I am running rich currently is from fuel in oil? I will change oil and see if that solves the problem.
