Default Let's do a quick swap into a clean 68 Chevy Nova

Hey guys, it's been a while since I have done a real time swap thread. I'll try to keep up on it as good as I can.

Today we are starting with a very original, 69k mile 68 Chevy II. I will be driving it into the shop tonight to start tearing it apart around 5 pm CST. Plan is to do a reasonably quick swap of a 5.3/ 4l60e into the car. We will also be throwing some disc brakes up front, different gauges, and an all new fuel system.

Here are a few teaser pics I just took:

I was thinking the same thing, it has the 68-69 side marker lights and the Nova script on the quarter panel like a 68 , but somebody put a 70-70 tail panel in it? Still looks like a pretty clean car though.

i bet its worth the same with the 6 cyl in it as it would be with no engine and for sale as a roller.

Never noticed the tail light differences before but can tell that it had a tap to the rear at some point, which must have been when the change came along. The car still has the original shocks, balljoints, all the interior, etc. Along with that came the owners book where all the oil and gas fill ups were documented for many years. It's a pretty neat car. Plan to put the LS in for mockup today.

Motor and trans is in for mockup. Looks like standard, non setback plates with some stand modifications. Slightly modified trans crossmember for the 4l60e, f-body manifold to clear all the obstacles on the drivers side.

That is pertty much like my 71 Nova.. When I picked it up... the guys aid it was 27k original miles on it. I didn't think it was, cause it was pertty much all oxidized and dull. After I got it home. I found the orignal Fan Belts and hoses (with GM numbers), shocks on it , then I took a closer look under the body and it pertty much sold me it was 27k on it. It still had what might be the OEM Bias Tires LOL.

It was also a 250/6cyc and PG car..no options except Radio and Heater came with it. Rubber only on the floor, no capet.

Looking good Randy! Should we expect this done tomorrow? Ha Ha. It's been a long time since I've stopped by the shop, maybe I'll stop down and check this out!
