I got a couple questions about the LS1 swap my brothers doing into a 1990 300zx, we got the car to crank but are not getting spark, so we believe the vats "anti theft bullshit?", and or the emissions that we removed are causeing this problem? If there are any other things i can look for to make sure that may not be the cause please let me know, we want to start it asap!!!!! We have fuel pressure but no spark.

Would the vats be the problem since the motor has been swaped into a car without vats or are the vats programmed into the pcm?

Could be a number of things. Does the computer have the stock tune in it? VATS can be turned off in the tune with HPTuners or EFILive in the PCM. Do you have either of those?

Emissions stuff wouldn't cause a no spark issue.

yes computer has a stock tune in it, i do not have hptuners nor efilive.

That is your problem. I found a guy on Ebay that for $100 will change remove all the "stuff" you don't need including VATS. That will get you going but you may require a custom tune.

You will need to send the computer off to get the VATS removed.
I would also remove any of the emissions stuff at that time IF you can (egr, etc.).
Or find a tuner in ur area.

VATS needs tuned out, but it cuts fuel, not spark. You may have other issues.

I thought VATS would let it start for a couple of seconds before killing it?
