84cutlass

I have install a 6.0 lq9 with a 4l60 in my Cutlass. The problem i am running into is with the floor shift cable and brackets. I tried the original cable, another cable i had, the original brackets and 2 others that i tried to modify. IT seems as if the stroke of the cable isnt long enough. I am trying to keep the factory floor shifter. I spoke with some one at shift works on friday and he never called me back. I have been searching forums and they few i found, no one replied how they got it to work. Any help or part numbers would be great.
