Default Anyone taken a truck PS pump apart?

I have a low mile power steering pump with a smashed reservoir, and a super high mile pump on my truck that whines and is really annoying, so I'm trying to figure out how to take just the pump part of the truck power steering pump out of the reservoir. I would assume there's a big o ring around the pump, and it's held in by the two studs/bolts on the back, but I took the studs out, and no ammount of convincing could get the pump to come apart. I put longer bolts in where the studs were and tried hammering on them, but it won't budge. I didn't go crazy because I didn't want to break anything. So does anybody know how or if it comes apart?

The fitting for the pressure output...take that off, and the other two studs...the tank will pop off, has a big oring around the actual pump.

Yep. The pressure output valve holds the can on too on a p-pump. You'll need a 1" wrench or socket to remove it. Unthread it by hand once it's loosened and be cautions of the pressure relief spring, the fitting and spring will want to fly out and fall or roll under or behind your bench or toolbox.

Be careful with the o-ring, especially when re-installing the new can.

I forgot to mention I took that out too. It must just really be stuck on there. Do they really normally just easily pull apart???

I've taken apart a ton of them, some of them need a little persuasion.
