Default Small Block to LS?

I am wanting to upgrade from a 350 small block to an LSX. I know I will need an electric fuel pump of some sort but I am not 100% sure of what to do yet. I have seen tank upgrades that cost $400 or more that have to be welded into an existing tank.

My question Are:

1- What is really needed to supply fuel to an LS engine (EFI or carbuerated)?
2- Is it the higher fuel pressures that make tank baffels necessary?
3- Why is it that an old small block/bigblock can run an old style sending unit/fuel pickup and not stall everytime it turns a corner or accellerates hard?

Thanks
Bret

The reason a carbureted car can make a corner without starving for fuel is there is still reserve fuel inside the float bowls even if the fuel pump is pumping air from the tank. The carbureted fuel requirements for an LS are the same as for a small block. With fuel injection, you supply the fuel rails with whatever you pump from the tank. If you pump air, you'll get air at the injectors. This is why it becomes more important to have baffling in the tank.

Check out Tanks Inc.: http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/pa...rod/prd408.htm

1962-67 Chevy II and Nova Fuel Injection Gas Tank:

I'm swapping an LQ9 into my '67 Camaro and used one of their tanks, and a Walbro 255 from them as well. It was under $500 for the tank, fuel pump and sender. They look stock, but have an interior baffle, and the fuel pump and sender bolt right in.
