So, who's going to be the first to do the new 6.2L LT1 swap?

I know the engine isn't even a available yet, but I am curious if anyone is contemplating swapping the new stingrays power plant into their ride.
I'll be doing a restomod within the next few years and if these engines go over good it's a good possibility I'll use one.

I bet the first swap is going to come from a truck with the LT1(or it's variant)
It will be interesting seeing how someone will accomplish it.
I have my ideas of how I would do it, but some may consider it not a true swap if you ditch the direct injection. I know the Megasquirt will decode the trigger wheel, and can fire the coils. And be configured about any way that it needs to be to work an LT1.

Hell yeah! I'd do one if I could get my hands on one, but cost is going to be the biggest roadblock. When the LS1 first came out, there weren't very many people swapping them, so I picked mine up at a reasonable price but since everybody is doing them now, the new LT1 is going to be a swap candidate from the start. But I still want one!!!

I dont know what engines you blokes get over there, what is the new 6.2? Is it the LS3, or something new. We dont always get the same engines out here.

It will be a shop for sure. I'm sure there will be crate versions of it w/in a year of its release.
Maybe it will finally bring LS1 prices down to a reasonable level
It's called an LT1, but it's pretty much all new engine, but still a pushrod engine, the first w/ direct injection... I'm sure GM will be the only one to be able to claim that.

Not going to let out too many details yet but it WILL be in a Chevelle that is built by my local street rod shop. Eric, you know who I am talking about. LT1 swap is already fully funded and coordinated with the engine supplier from a vette not a truck. It is a no budget build.
Chevelle owner just bought a LS9 for a 69 camaro and contracted to build several more cutting edge cars. LS9 Camaro has all new body panels and will be at world of wheels in KC next year. Last car they built was a 6.2L twin turbo '69 camaro that won several awards. Video of it is on my YouTube page.

For anyone confused while reading this thread....
LT1 is indeed the new engine for Corvettes, etc
The old LT series is completely unrelated. There are other LT1s from the 80s and 90s that were the standard GM engines of the time. After the LT series came the LS series, which anyone on this website is familiar with.
The LS series is not a new name either. I believe they used the LS designation in the 60s.
GM is great at building engines....terrible at naming them.

I figured a shop would defiantly be the first to do the swap because you'll most likely have to pull one out of a new vette to get it, and if gm makes the engine alone available I'd hate to know the cost!
