Default Fitting Carpet over enlarged Trans Tunnel

I've got a 71 Chevelle with an enlarged trans tunnel to fit a viper T56. I am trying to determine how difficult it will be to get stock molded carpeting to fit properly. I am going to buy carpeting and seem to remember a post about carpeting and how some brands fit looser than others. I'm thinking a looser sloppier fit is what I need. I also want a carpet with a mass backing but I expect that may make the carpet harder to conform to the new trans hump shape.

Anybody care to comment on what they used for carpet over a enlarged trans tunnel and how well the installation went?

Thanks

I bought my carpet from summit. I don't know how enlarged your tunnel is. I raised my trans tunnel 1"-2" and i still had extra carpet to trim. Let your carpet sit outside on a good hot and sunny day and it will be more manageable.

How about removing some of the sound insulation under the carpet ?
